In response to state guidance and in order to plan for a possible school shut down that could include online learning, CPS will be closing at noon this Friday 3/13 in order to provide planning time for staff.

Coronavirus Prevention


In an effort to protect our community from a potential outbreak of the coronavirus, the Town of Canterbury is canceling all of its activities which are scheduled to be held at the MUNICIPAL BUILDING beginning Monday March 9, 2020. These restrictions will be reevaluated regularly, and when we feel it is safe to resume regular activity at the municipal building, we will notify the public via the Town of Canterbury website, the Town of Canterbury Facebook page and with written notices posted at the municipal building.

Sealed bids for the Town of Canterbury Bridge No. 04424: Miller Goodwin Connector at Little River Project will be received at the Office of the Canterbury First Selectman, 1 Municipal Drive, Canterbury, CT 06331 until 12:00 A.M., on March 25, 2020 prevailing time, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.  All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope bearing the bidder's name and bid name.

 The Contract consists of lead paint abatement, repairs to steel beams and new paint on an existing bridge within the Town of Canterbury.

 Bid documents are available digitally only and can be found on the Town of Canterbury website: Neither the Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bid Documents obtained from any other source.

 Bid surety in the form of a certified check or bid bond in the amount of five percent 5% of this bid is required.  The successful bidder shall also furnish a 100% Performance Bond and Payment Bond. 

 The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, to award any item, group of items, or total bid, and to waive any informality in the bids received if it deems it to be in the best interest of the Town to do so.

 No Bidder may withdraw their bid within 60 days after the actual date of bid opening thereof.  Should there be reason why the contract cannot be awarded within the specific period, this time may be extended by mutual agreement between the Town and the designated, qualified low Bidder.

Canterbury Town Hall Offices - Hours of Operations

Please be advised that the hours of operations for the Canterbury Town Hall Offices will change effective January 1, 2017.  The Hours of Operation will be as follows:

Monday thru Wednesday:  9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Thursday:  9:00 AM to 6:30 PM

Friday:  CLOSED


Canterbury Town Hall Office Hours:
Monday – Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM, Friday: CLOSED
